Mazda will rollout all-new, fuel-efficient technologies this year with the launch of the updated 2012 Mazda3. But before the compact car launches, Mazda will highlight its SKYACTIV tech at the New York Auto Show next week.
In addition to unveiling the refreshed 2012 Mazda3 for the first time, Mazda will also make the North American debut of the Minagi Concept, which will be the basis for a new compact crossover in the future. Naturally, both vehicles will feature Mazda’s suite of SKYACTIV technologies, which includes completely redesigned, highly efficient, internal combustion gasoline and diesel engines, manual and automatic transmissions, and an advanced body and chassis. The MX-5 GT is the lightest and most powerful version of the Miata ever built. Designed to compete in the Britcar MSA British Endurance Championship this year, the MX-5 GT weighs just 1,874 pounds and produces a staggering 275-horsepower from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine.
Mazda sales have been strong all year, and March’s numbers don’t disappoint. The automaker reported a 33.3 percent increase in U.S. sales versus March of 2010, with 30,905 units sold.
